The Lavender Project is a non-profit based in Birmingham, AL founded by Michael and Allie Armstrong.
On June 30, 2022, Ellis Rogers Armstrong was born into the arms of Jesus after a full term, healthy pregnancy. We learned her heart stopped beating earlier that day due to a spontaneous, concealed placental abruption.
Ellis' older sister, Levy, is often seen rocking her favorite pink outfits. Ellis was supposed to be by her side rocking her favorite lavender ones. Hence, The Lavender Project was named and started in honor of our lavender girl.
Even though Ellis was never able to take a breath in this world, we believe that every life has meaning, including hers. Through her work, and through the grace of God, we strive to make the lives of others experiencing the sudden loss of a child better every day.
1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18
The Lavender Project focuses on four major areas to support grieving families. The donation of Cuddle Cots, financial support for funeral, burial, and healthcare costs, education for healthcare professionals and family friends, and financially supporting the creation of hospital rooms specifically for bereavement care.
Unexpected funeral, burial, and healthcare costs are extremely hard on grieving families. No one should have to sacrifice when choosing a respectable resting place for their child.
DetailsCaring for people experiencing grief is not always an easy task. The Lavender Project strives to make caring for the ones we love as easy as possible by investing in research and offering multiple training tools for healthcare professionals and friends.
DetailsBereavement care is needed in hospitals to ensure that mothers who have lost a newborn and other grieving patients receive the best care possible.
DetailsWe're the Armstrongs! Please feel free to reach out and help us continue Ellis' legacy if you know of a family in need. We are so grateful for all of our donors, and we love creating relationships with everyone we meet through The Lavender Project. Hope to see you all at the next Lavender Project event soon!
